Why You Shouldn't Miss PhotoPlus Expo 2018

Michael DeStefano October 2, 2018

It's that time of year again when masses of photographers and videographers from all over the East coast make their way to NYC and the Jacob Javits Center for PDN's PhotoPlus Expo 2018.

This year's Expo stands to be one of the biggest yet with over 90+ seminars and more than 200 exhibitors on the show floor. Every year I look forward to PDN’s PhotoPlus Expo, as it serves one purpose, to bring people together who share a common interest. In this case photography and videography. Like a lot of east coast photographers, it’s a must-attend event, one I have been attending for over a decade.

Raising $30,000 on Kickstarter: Building Your Audience, Part 1

Michael DeStefano September 1, 2018

There is a ton of information and so many great resources on how to raise money for a project with crowdfunding these days. So I’m going to skip the tips and show you proven strategies to fund your projects no matter what they are.

I have designed and managed several successful crowdfunding campaigns over the last few years. The largest of which, raised just shy of $28,000 for an ongoing photography project called panAFRICAproject by the legendary photographer Lou Jones. This was a big achievement as crowdfunding large amounts of money for a photography project rather than a physical product like a lens or photo book is considerably harder. I am currently running a new campaign for Jones that has already raised over $30,000 and is on track to reach $40,000 by the end of the month. I will be using this campaign as the basis and example for this three-part series on how to use crowdfunding to fund personal projects, art books, and more. So please take a second to check out the campaign and project page.

A Keyboard Designed for Creatives: Fstoppers Reviews the Logitech Craft

Michael DeStefano August 24, 2018

Can a keyboard do more than just type? Can it speed up your workflow and make everyday tasks easier? Do you even need it to? The Logitech Craft is trying to be the answer to these questions and more.

Like a lot of others in the creative field, I have been using gaming keyboards for their customizable features and software profiles for a long time. Recently I have been looking into upgrading to the G910 from Logitech. For some, the gimmicky trends, flashy LEDs, and overall look can be a turnoff or even eyesore on an otherwise clean desktop. So when asked if I wanted to try out Logitech's new Craft keyboard designed with creatives in mind I couldn't say no.

One last shot from Joshua Tree. I've spent weeks hiking and exploring the outback and yet there is so much more to see. Hopefully things get better and I'll be able to return later this year. Looking forward to it. #Hiking #camping #climbing #adventu
Joshua tree is one of my favorite place to cam, hike, and climb in the US. There is just something about both the community of people often found in and around the camping grounds and the ability to be alone in a wilderness that probably hasn't seen
Oasis in the desert. After a 15 min downpour the desert came alive like nothing I'd seen before. Pockets of water like this are a gathering point and help to sustain the local wildlife. #Hiking #camping #climbing #adventure #adven
Boston is starting to come alive again as spring slowly shows itself. Longer evenings means better photo opportunities as the Charles River area becomes more active.
